Draper Historical Society |
Welcome to the Draper Historical Society (This website is currently under construction) The Draper Historical Society was organized in October of 1980 with the aim of preserving and promoting Draper's history. Draper was settled in 1849, just two years after the Mormon Pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley. The city has gone through various name changes over the years. Local Native Americans called this end of the valley Sivogah. Other names followed such as South Willow Creek, Draperville (named after the first Presiding Elder in town, William Draper) and finally the name was shortened to Draper. We encourage you to visit our library and museum to enjoy the wealth of information and interesting artifacts offered there. Admission is always free, and we invite you to share your thoughts and observations as you spend an hour or an afternoon browsing through our growing collection. HOURS? Mondays and Wednesday (holidays excluded) between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. If you are planning a group tour, please call ahead to help us best accomodate your group. WHERE ARE WE?
